Casmir Care Services partners with local non-profit and Medical Device companies to keep special needs clients safe

 April, 2014 – Philadelphia, PA. Casmir Care services assists Adults who have disabilities. The company is committed to enriching lives of people with autism, disabilities, individuals recovering from illness or injury, and mentally challenged, as well as adults with special needs. In addition, Casmir Care Services is making significant efforts in educating the community on ways to keep wanderers safe, quickly locate them and speedily return them to their families. According to the CEO of the company, Chetachi Dunkley Ecton, Casmir Cares is partnering with local non profits, device technology companies, city, state, federal agencies including law enforcement agencies to make sure individuals are safely cared for and returned back speedily to their loved ones.

  • Handouts/Pamphlets –Pamphlets and handouts are imperative for disseminating information at events
  • Civic Leagues, Neighborhood Watches, and Community Support Groups– This is a wonderful place to seek volunteers. Learn about your local Neighborhood Watch program and attend meetings. Involved citizens know what is going on in their communities.
  • Utilize Volunteers
  • Police and Fire units
  • Senior Centers
  • Special Needs Centers – find out what special needs centers you may have in your area
  • Crime Prevention/Community Relations – Law enforcement personnel are another wonderful resource as well
  • City Council and Elected Officials
  • Alzheimer’s, Autism and other Organizations – See about attending meetings, conducting presentations, & becoming involved with their fundraising events and vice versa, etc.
  • Agency Representative – Look within your own agency to see who may have a relative that has Alzheimer’s, autism or other wandering conditions. There is nothing like someone who can speak from the heart and make that connection with others.
  • Newsletters – Utilize newsletters to share articles and success stories
  • E-mails – create a distribution list for citizens or others who may enjoy receiving information or who may support your efforts
  • Web resources and Support Groups – There are a multitude of groups and foundations that have established support the community.
  • Social Media – Social media sites are also a great way to connect with local citizens, organizations, and businesses. Create a Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter account – and build relationships with local people who support you and can help promote your program in your community.

 

Casmir Care Services staff and individuals they support honored by Philadelphia IDS at 2014 Brighter Future Award Ceremony

 On March 7, 2014, The Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHids) hosted the 22nd Annual My City, My Place Brighter Future Awards & Wellness Expo. The event honored individuals who make a difference in the lives of others and create impact in their community. In attendance were hundreds of guests at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. The event showcased individuals utilizing intellectual disability supports and their support team which includes friends and neighbors, providers, businesses, or organizations.

3 individuals supported by Casmir Care services, Isaiah, Charles, Michael and 2 staff members, Fredrick Tynes and Karen Atkinson, received honorable recognition for extraordinary support of people leading everyday lives in the community. Casmir Care Services also received an honorable mention in recognition of extraordinary support of people leading everyday lives in the community.

CEO of the company, Ms. Chetachi Dunkley Ecton extolled the virtues of the individuals being honored for their remarkable ability to overcome challenging situations with confidence, willpower, and determination. She also praised the staff for their discipline, passion and commitment to the people they support and encouraged other teammates to emulate the positive examples of their colleagues being honored.

 

Casmir Care Services Requalifies for the Adult Autism Waiver !

As of January 2014, Casmir Care Services is now requalified to provide Community Inclusion services under the Adult Autism Waiver.  Community Inclusion services will enable individuals gain the skills needed to live in the community.  Other services to come through the Adult Autism Waiver includes Respite (In-home and Out-of-home),  Job assessment, Job finding, Supported Employment and Behavioral Specialist Services. Family members ex-pressed their views and personal stories. On Monday, November 25th, Casmir Care Services located at 4950 Parkside Avenue, Suite 400, Philadelphia PA presented free Thanksgiving Turkeys to the individuals and families they serve as well as members of the community. As usual, during this time of the year, the company gave away dozens of turkeys to individuals and families. Speaking at the presentation of the gifts, the CEO of the company, Ms. Chetachi Dunkley Ecton mentioned that this gesture was in line with the company’s overall mission of giving back. She also mentioned that Casmir Cares will continue to seek to improve the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through care, comfort and compassion.

Casmir Care Services recently honored family members and their support team at its 5th Annual Luncheon ceremony. The event was held at Hibachi Grill Restaurant on October 24 in N.E. Philadelphia.  There were dozens of family members in attendance. Speaking to the dozens of family members and support staff at the event, Casmir Care CEO, Chetachi Dunkley Ecton thanked everyone in attendance for their hard work and constant support. Special awards and recognition were presented to staff members who had gone beyond the call of duty in service over the last year. Casmir Care services also presented certificates of recognition to all the individuals they serve in attendance. A highlight of the occasion was the display and presentation of modeling photos by an individual Casmir Care services supports who is an aspiring model. His display showcased different poses around the City of Philadelphia. Ms. Chetachi Dunkley mentioned that Casmir Care Services will continue to support and showcase the talent of individuals it serves through the arts, cultural and community related activities.
